Market Overview of Northfield Road

dashed line separator The Village of Northfield (IL) retained Gruen Gruen + Associates (GG+A) to conduct a market overview of the Northfield Road corridor between Willow Road and Winnetka Road. Through site inspections, a review of a reverse telephone directory, and a review of Village of Northfield files on the properties in the corridor, GG+A's identified patterns of economic change in the corridor.

GG+A prepared a questionnaire which was distributed to the 24 businesses and institutions on the corridor in order to identify insights about businesses located on the corridor including the following:
  • The types of business located on the corridor;
     
  • The number of years respondents have been on Northfield Road;
     
  • Average commute time of employees;
     
  • The geographic origins of customers;
     
  • Potential expansion plans; and
     
  • Suggestions on how to improve the corridor.
The review of Northfield files and the results of the survey allowed GG+A to present findings on the land use changes the corridor has experienced since initial construction; advantages and disadvantages of the corridor; characteristics of businesses on the corridor and conclusion about policies and actions to facilitate beneficial enhancements to the corridor.
